10/26/15

I always like the way the moon looks in the sky while it's still light outside, probably because we naturally associate the moon with the night, so it looks somewhat out of place. This image looked darker on my screen, so it seemed like a silhouetted scene with just the moon illuminated in the sky. I think I'll try to get another one that better communicates that feeling.

  1. It's not easy to get a nice shot of the moon with the wide lens of a cell phone. But this looks really nice. The horizon against the sky adds some nice color contrast as well as making everything look really expansive.

  2. I too find this impressive, but also quite symbolic. Most people tend to take pictures of the moon when it is massive. They like to take pictures that evoke awe in the way we can see how small and insignificant we are in comparison to the cosmos. This picture does the opposite. We are removed from the universe because in reality, it doesn't make a speck of difference in how we live our lives.
